I decide that this a perfect chance to scrub away some of my own preconceptions, misconceptions, and naivete. I jump in the truck and find that what I initially saw as 'a blue uniform and a badge' is actually a kind, good-hearted mother of two named Keera. After finding out that she is a correctional officer at a prison, I launch into a barrage of questions to find out how being constantly surrounded by some of the dark aspects of being a human shapes her perspective on life. She tells me what she tells her kids, "A life lived in fear is a life half lived."
